ORCA, being part of the University of the Highlands and Islands Archaeology Institute, undertake an ongoing programme of academic research across a wide range of sites in Orkney. The ORCA team organises the major work at The Ness of Brodgar and regularly publishes papers concerning the finds that are transforming our view of the Neolithic world. ORCA staff are also involved in the management of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site and direct academic research projects in this area. Major clients include Historic Environment Scotland and Orkney Islands Council.
